At Debi Spencer-Zerby Photography, I specialize in baby and child milestone photography, first birthday portraits, KISS (Keep It Sweet & Simple) sessions, Cake Smash sessions, and Smash & Splash sessions for families in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and throughout Laramie, Wheatland, Torrington, Pine Bluffs, Northern Colorado, and Western Nebraska.

With over 12 years of professional photography experience, I create fun, personalized sessions that celebrate your child's unique personality. Whether you are looking for a simple milestone portrait, timeless first birthday photographs, a themed Cake Smash, or a Cake Smash & Splash experience, every session is customized to reflect your family's style and vision.

Cake Smash sessions are typically scheduled when your baby is around 11 months old so your photographs are ready in time for first birthday invitations, party decorations, and keepsakes.

Milestone portrait sessions are also available throughout your child's early years, from those first smiles and sitter sessions through their fifth birthday.

KISS (Keep It Sweet & Simple)
Milestone -1st Birthday - Cake Smash

  • Includes 10 individually retouched high resolution digital photos

  • 1 simple set up in studio only either a cake smash setup or just milestone portraits for ages 3 months to 5 years old

  • 2 outfits

  • Simple setup with balloons and ONE or a numbered prop included

  • This package is not a themed setup. It includes only a simple backdrop with or without balloons. See Intimate Package if you want a particular theme.

  • Session duration: Approximately 30 minutes

  • 2 payments of $112.50**

Milestone -1st Birthday - Cake Smash

Ultimate Cake Smash & Splash 1st Birthday

My First Year Kiss Package

  • Contract and 1st payment must be completed prior to 6 months old

  • Booking fee for both sessions is $200.00. Balance due day before each session ($100.00 / session) **

  • 2 backdrop set ups in studio or 1 location outdoors***

  • 3 outfits for the each session

  • Simple decorations/props for 3, 6, 9 month sessions and 1st birthday portraits.

  • Customized or themed decorations included for 1 set up for the cake smash - 1st birthday only* (See below for details)

  • Upgrade to an Ultimate Cake Smash & Splash for $50 (See Ultimate package for what is included for the 1st birthday)

  • Contract and 1st payment must be completed prior to 3 months old

  • Session duration: Approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour

  • Booking fee for all 4 sessions is $550.00. Balance due day before each session ($137.50 / session) **

Additional Information

  • All the above packages include a print release, online gallery and web sized downloads on request. These packages are for 1 child only.

  • All chosen photos are selected by the client from their online gallery

  • The cake is not included with any package for liability reasons. If you need a recommendation on a baker for a specialty-theme cake one can be provided

  • Returning client and active military receive additional photos

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I book a cake smash session?

Most cake smash sessions are scheduled when your baby is around 11 months old so the photos are ready before their first birthday celebration. I recommend booking your session as early as possible, as last-minute requests often cannot be accommodated.

Do I have to include a cake?

Not at all. First birthday sessions can be photographed with or without a cake and are perfect for those who prefer a simpler portrait session.

What ages are milestone sessions for?

Milestone sessions are popular at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 1 year, but they are also available for older babies and young children up to 5 years old.

What if my child does not like cake?

Every child reacts differently to a cake smash. Some dive right in, while others prefer to explore, poke, or play with the cake. No matter their reaction, we can still create adorable photos.

Do you provide the cake?

For liability reasons, I do not provide the cake. However, I am happy to provide a list of local bakers that I have personally vetted and recommend.

Can parents and siblings participate?

Depending on the session type, parents and siblings may be able to participate for a small additional fee. Please contact me if you would like family photos included in your milestone or cake smash session.

What should my child wear?

Outfit options vary depending on the style of session you choose. I am happy to provide guidance and recommendations after booking.

What is a splash session?

A splash session takes place after the cake smash and allows your little one to play in a small tub while we capture some of the biggest smiles and giggles of the day.

Where do sessions take place?

Milestone, cake smash, and splash sessions take place in my Cheyenne studio. Outdoors sessions can be arranged from June to September.

Add-Ons

  • Add a sibling or parent(s) for $25 per person (Intimate & Ultimate cake smash sessions only) for a few photos. Please let the photographer know before selecting backdrop or theme.

  • Each additional digital photo is $15-$20 per photo

  • Entire session download available at a discount

  • Printing of photographs, cards and wall art through a professional printing lab of your final edited photos through your gallery
