Debi Spencer-Zerby Photography is a photographer based in Cheyenne, Wyoming, specializing in milestone sessions, first birthday portraits, cake smash sessions, and splash sessions for families throughout Cheyenne, Laramie, Wheatland, Torrington, Pine Bluffs, Northern Colorado, and Western Nebraska.

With over 12 years of professional photography experience, I create fun, personalized sessions that celebrate your child's unique personality. Whether you are looking for a simple milestone session, a themed cake smash, or a cake smash and splash experience, each session is customized to fit your vision.

Cake smash sessions are typically scheduled before your child's first birthday so you can use the photos for birthday invitations, party decorations, and keepsakes. Milestone sessions are also available for babies and children beyond their first year.

Cake Smash-1st Birthday-Milestone

  • Includes 10 individually retouched high resolution digital photos

  • 1 simple set up in studio only either a cake smash setup or just portraits

  • Simple setup balloons and ONE props included

  • This package is not a themed setup. It includes only a simple backdrop with or without balloons. See Intimate Package if you want a particular theme.

Cake Smash-1st Birthday-Milestone

  • Upgrade to an Ultimate Cake Smash for $50

  • Contract and 1st payment must be completed prior to 3 months old

  • Booking fee for all 4 sessions is $550.00. Balance due day before each session ($137.50 / session) **

Additional Information

  • All the above packages include a print release, online gallery and web sized downloads on request. These packages are for 1 child only.

  • All chosen photos are selected by the client from their online gallery

  • The cake is not included with any package for liability reasons. If you need a recommendation on a baker for a specialty-theme cake one can be provided

  • Returning client and active military receive additional photos

Add-Ons

  • Add a sibling or parent(s) for $25 per person (Intimate & Ultimate cake smash sessions only). for a few photosMust let the photographer know before selecting backdrop or theme.

  • Each additional digital photo is $15-$20 per photo

  • Entire session download available at a discount

  • Printing of photographs, cards and wall art through professional printing company

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I book a cake smash session?

Most cake smash sessions are scheduled when your baby is around 11 months old so the photos are ready before their first birthday celebration. I recommend booking your session as early as possible, as last-minute requests often cannot be accommodated.

Do I have to include a cake?

Not at all. Milestone sessions can be photographed with or without a cake and are perfect for those who prefer a simpler portrait session.

What ages are milestone sessions for?

Milestone sessions are popular at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 1 year, but they are also available for older babies and young children up to 5 years old.

What if my child does not like cake?

Every child reacts differently to a cake smash. Some dive right in, while others prefer to explore, poke, or play with the cake. No matter their reaction, we can still create adorable photos.

Do you provide the cake?

For liability reasons, I do not provide the cake. However, I am happy to provide a list of local bakers that I have personally vetted and recommend.

Can parents and siblings participate?

Depending on the session type, parents and siblings may be able to participate for a small additional fee. Please contact me if you would like family photos included in your milestone or cake smash session.

What should my child wear?

Outfit options vary depending on the style of session you choose. I am happy to provide guidance and recommendations after booking.

What is a splash session?

A splash session takes place after the cake smash and allows your little one to play in a small tub while we capture some of the biggest smiles and giggles of the day.

Where do sessions take place?

Milestone, cake smash, and splash sessions take place in my Cheyenne studio. Outdoors sessions can be arranged from June to September.

* Customized or themed setup needs to be requested at a minimum of 3 weeks before session to guarantee arrival of props/decor and may incur additional costs.

** First payment due at booking to hold the date and second payment due the day before the session. Prices do not include sales tax (Ask me about my payment plans!)

*** Outdoor sessions can be done on request for the Intimate & Ultimate packages only in warm weather months (June-mid October) and additional fees may apply depending on location and travel time.
